Paolo De Girolamo

Born in 1959. Associate Professor of Maritime Constructions at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. National Scientific Qualification (ASN) as full professor obtained in 2012. Scientific Director of the LIAM Laboratory (University of L’Aquila – IT) from 1998 to 2012 specialized on physical and numerical modeling of maritime and hydraulic structures included dams.  Ph.D. in Maritime Hydraulics in 1988. Main research interests: wave-structure interaction processes, coastal risk assessment, real time forecast of storm surges and ocean waves, landslide generated tsunami. Principal Investigator of a number of European and International projects.  Author of more than 150 referred papers. In the professional field he has been involved in the design and construction of harbors and coastal defenses in Italy and in developing countries (Libya, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Canouan Island - S. Vincent and Grenadines). Consultant of Consorzio Venezia Nuova (for about 25 years) and of Grandi Lavori Fincosit for the design and construction of the Mose project. Participation in all the ICCE Conferences since 1988.
